Response Paper
As humans, it is undeniable that we often fall short of expectations and fail in certain aspects of our lives. However, we can always choose to be an benefit finder by change our perspective. One of the most significant advantages is that it can make us feel better even in difficult situations. For instance, individuals who have lost their homes to a fire can view it as a fresh start and appreciate that their family is safe. This positive mindset has been found to increase positive mood and reduce physical symptoms.
According to research, AIDS patients who write down their traumas and perceived benefits visit doctors less often and have a higher survival rate. This also show the power of mind and the perception theory. Trying to find the light in dark is also adjusting to the darkness.
Despite the benefits of being a benefit finder, not everyone is optimistic. This can be attributed to the perspective of life as short, brutish, nasty, and poor as proposed by philosopher Thomas Hobbes. Most imporatantly, the media tends to report negative news more often and highlight a small part of the whole picture with extreme phenomenon to draw attention, leading to a bias that distorts our perception of the world.
In all, it is important to appreciate the good things in life and focus on the brighter side of things. When we appreciate things, they appreciate, leading to a growth spiral. By focusing on the positives and connecting with reality, we can appreciate our country, our life, and the people around us. When we do this, we can create a more positive world where everything can fulfill much more of their potential.
